China's Lunar Exploration Program's Five Major Systems
China's lunar exploration program consists of five major systems: the lunar exploration satellite system, the launch vehicle system, the launch site system, the tracking and control system, and the ground application system.
Lunar Exploration Satellite System: The lunar exploration satellites developed by the China Academy of Space Technology are named the Chang'e series. The upcoming Chang'e 3 probe mainly consists of a lander and a rover. During the mission, they will mainly undertake three tasks: investigation of the lunar surface morphology and geological structure, investigation of the composition of lunar surface materials and usable resources, and detection of the Earth's plasma layer and lunar-based optical astronomical observation.
Launch Vehicle System: The launch vehicles developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology are the means of sending the satellites into their predetermined orbits. The Chang'e 3 launch uses the Long March 3B improved version rocket, which is currently China's most powerful launch vehicle.
It is one of China's three major launch sites, and it is also the earliest and most frequently used space launch site open to the outside world. The Xichang Satellite Launch Center has successfully launched the Chang'e 1 and Chang'e 2 satellites.

Tracking and Control System: This system is mainly responsible for the orbit measurement, image and telemetry monitoring, remote operation, data injection, and flight control of rockets and satellites. The tracking and control system mainly consists of the Beijing Flight Control Center, ground tracking and control stations in Kashgar, Jiamusi, and other locations, and the Yuanwang series of ocean-going space measurement ships.
Ground Application System: Developed and constructed by the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The ground application system consists of five subsystems: data reception,
