Recently, Skipsteknisk received orders for the design of four new vessels from CNOOC, marking a breakthrough in the Chinese offshore market.
According to Eworldship.com, Skipsteknisk received its first design order from CNOOC in 2008, providing the design for a ST-327L seismic exploration vessel built at Shanghai Shipyard. The vessel was delivered in 2011.
In 2010, Skipsteknisk opened a sales office in Shanghai to penetrate the Chinese market. In 2011, they received an order for the design of a large ST-263 construction vessel from China Oilfield Services Limited. This vessel is currently under construction and was delivered in 2014.
In 2011, after the delivery of the ST-327L seismic exploration vessel to CNOOC, named "COSL 720", it received positive feedback. Subsequently, a contract for a second vessel of the same type was signed with CNOOC. This vessel is currently under construction at Shanghai Shipyard and is scheduled for completion and delivery in 2014.
Recently, Skipsteknisk again received orders for the design of four new vessels from CNOOC, including two 125-meter ST-259 offshore construction vessels, one 80-meter ST-318 seismic exploration vessel, and one 65-meter ST-315 seismic exploration vessel. This contract includes project development and basic concept design, with detailed design and construction of the vessels to be carried out in China.
Including this design order, Skipsteknisk has received seven orders for the design of special offshore engineering vessels from China, five of which were received this year. CNOOC, a subsidiary of CNOOC Limited, is one of Skipsteknisk's important clients in China.
