It is understood that COSCO Shipping recently held a symposium on developing the marine economy in the Zhoushan Archipelago New Area of Zhejiang Province. This was to actively implement the 18th National Congress' strategic requirements for developing the marine economy and building a strong maritime nation, and to help COSCO Shipping seize historical opportunities and achieve safe, scientific, and sustainable development while consolidating its existing advantages.

At the meeting, Cai Zhijun, Deputy Director of the Zhoushan Municipal Development and Reform Commission, introduced the development plan and key tasks of the Zhejiang Zhoushan Archipelago New Area, recently approved by the State Council. Chen Tongping, Director of the Zhoushan Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology Ship Bureau, explained the local government's support policies for the development of the shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry. Bai Peijun, Executive Deputy Director of the R&D Center of COSCO (Group) Corporation analyzed the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry's development situation, explaining the importance of COSCO Group's development of the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry, as well as COSCO Shipping's practices and insights. COSCO Shipping's Offshore Engineering Business Department exchanged information on the current situation, development ideas, and measures of the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry within the system. The business headquarters conducted an in-depth analysis of the domestic and international operating conditions of the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry. Zhoushan COSCO Shipping exchanged information on its exploration and practice in developing offshore engineering, focusing on basic management, talent cultivation, and technological innovation. Relevant enterprises summarized their experiences, exchanged ideas, and offered suggestions from different perspectives.

Ma Zhihong, Party Secretary of COSCO Shipping, delivered a summary speech. He pointed out that the major development strategy of building a strong maritime nation proposed by the 18th National Congress, the historical opportunities brought about by the construction of the Zhejiang Zhoushan Archipelago New Area, and COSCO Group's strategic plan for developing complementary industries all present both glorious missions and valuable opportunities for COSCO Shipping, which is "developing and achieving success through the ocean." Only by strengthening policy study, conducting in-depth investigations and research, summarizing experiences, and exploring laws can we better promote the scientific development of COSCO Shipping. Combining national industrial planning and the actual development of COSCO Shipping, he shared his insights on the future development of COSCO Shipping from four aspects: "strategy, tactics, combat, and victory." He also emphasized that in terms of operations, we must adhere to and implement General Manager Wang Yuhang's "four combinations" requirements; in terms of production, we must establish the concept that "orders are the hard truth, delivery is the hard strength, cost reduction is the competitiveness, and innovation is the driving force." We must enhance our sense of mission, opportunities, and crisis, and on the basis of taking the lead in developing offshore engineering, further clarify our direction, strengthen management, adjust our structure, and promote transformation, continuing to be "one step ahead." We will unify the "blue dream" of building a strong maritime nation, the "development dream" of the Zhejiang Zhoushan Archipelago New Area, and the "strong enterprise dream" of COSCO Shipping, and work with passion, innovation, and a pioneering spirit, determined to strive for victory and make new contributions as COSCO people in upholding and developing the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and in building a strong maritime nation and developing the marine economy.
