The naming ceremony was attended by Catherine, the ship's sponsor; Nicholas, Head of NEDA; George, CEO of NEDA; Yang Xiaofeng, Vice President of Business Development for Greater China at Lloyd's Register; Thomas, President of Affinity Shipping; Wang Jin, Partner at United Shipping; Wu Junfeng, General Manager of the Shanghai Office of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Corporation and Maritime Registry; Jiang Binbin, Deputy General Manager of the European Department at China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd.; Zhou Jianxiang, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of CSIC Chengxi; Li Hao, Deputy General Manager; along with other relevant leaders and guests attended the naming ceremony.

During the ceremony, NEDA Company Head Nicholas delivered a speech, expressing high praise for CSIC Chengxi's outstanding construction efficiency and project management capabilities. Catherine performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to name the new vessel, successfully christening the 82,600-ton bulk carrier No. 36 as the “APOLLONIS,” wishing her smooth sailing and prosperous voyages.

Zhou Jianxiang, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of CSIC Chengxi, delivered an enthusiastic address. He noted that over a decade of dedicated collaboration, starting from ship repairs and expanding to joint newbuild construction, the “APOLLONIS” stands as a profound testament to the mutually beneficial partnership between CSSC Chengxi and NEDA. CSSC Chengxi will remain focused on value creation, deepen lean management, strive to build more outstanding products, and endeavor to create greater value for customers, jointly composing a new chapter of win-win development.

This vessel represents the flagship model of the “Blue Whale” series bulk carriers independently developed by CSIC Chengxi. With an overall length of 229.00 meters, a midship breadth of 32.26 meters, a midship depth of 20.20 meters, a design draft of 12.20 meters, and a design service speed of 14.0 knots, it is classed by Lloyd's Register (LR). Its economic efficiency, environmental performance, and safety standards all meet internationally leading levels. During construction, facing the owner's expectation for early delivery, the company adhered to its “Three-Pronged Approach” philosophy: “Business revolves around the market, production revolves around business, and the entire factory revolves around production.” It decisively adjusted the production schedule, leveraging its strengths in building the primary vessel type. Despite enduring persistent rainy season weather and scorching heat, the ship's outfitting and dock fitting tasks were completed in just 92 days, setting the company's shortest shipbuilding record for the year.
