Construction of the Zhāoshāngjú Heavy Industry JB118 self-elevating platform has commenced.

On the morning of March 21, a groundbreaking ceremony for the JB118 self-elevating platform (JB 118 Self Elevating Unit) project was held in the first span of the hull cutting workshop at the Mazhou Island shipbuilding base in Shenzhen. Mr. Ronald Schukking, representative of the ship owner Jack-Up Barge B.V., Project Manager Mr. Lim Wei Liang, Construction Manager Wong Liang Juan, relevant leaders and surveyors from the American Bureau of Shipping, representatives from GustoMSC design, Mr. Zhu Guiming, general manager of China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., and other leaders and guests from relevant assisting units attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Zhou Xunqiang, marketing director and general manager of the JB118 project at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. At the ceremony, Mr. Zhu Guiming, general manager of China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., and Mr. Ronald Schukking, leader of Jack-Up Barge B.V., delivered speeches. After the speeches, Mr. Zhou Xunqiang, the host, announced that the "commencement certificate" would be officially signed by the three parties: Jack-Up Barge B.V., the American Bureau of Shipping, and China Merchants Heavy Industry, followed by an offering of incense and prayers for the project. The shipyard and ship owner leaders jointly started the cutting button, and firecrackers were set off simultaneously. Thus, the JB118 self-elevating platform officially commenced construction.
　　This project contract was signed on January 16, 2012, between China Merchants Heavy Industry and Self Elevating Platform JB 118 N.V. (parent company: Jack-Up Barge B.V.), with contract number CMHI-116, classed by ABS, and flying the flag of the Bahamas. This platform is a rectangular hull with four legs, equipped with an MSC hydraulic lifting system. The main crane is 1000t, mainly used for wind power equipment installation and other marine engineering construction in the 45-meter water depth range in the southern Bohai Sea. The main design parameters of this platform are: overall length 75.9m, width 40.0m, depth 6.0m, design draft 4.2m; four cylindrical legs, length 81.55m, diameter 3.5m.
　　The basic design of this project was designed by GustoMSC, the ship type is SEA-3250 self-elevating platform. Except for OFE, the basic design, detailed design, production design, procurement of materials and equipment, hull construction, equipment installation and commissioning, and delivery of this platform are all completed by our company. The short construction period and tight schedule put enormous pressure on the technology center, project team, and production units. However, the project team, technology center, and production units are still full of confidence, adhering to safety as a guarantee, production as the main line, and quality as the lifeblood. They will overcome the difficulties of the tight schedule and strive to deliver a satisfactory answer to the company leaders and customers as required by the contract!
