On April 10, 2024, at 5:00 PM, the dual-fuel power system retrofit project for the Pasha Group's container ship "Zhicheng" (GEORGE 2), undertaken by Nantong COSCO SHIPPING Ship Management, successfully achieved the main generator commissioning milestone. This was witnessed by the ship owner, classification society, and service providers on site. This marks the official start of the engine room power system commissioning and is a significant milestone in the project's progress.

As the company's first retrofit project using liquefied LNG as the main engine's clean energy, and in accordance with the coordinated arrangements of the two production systems, Nantong COSCO SHIPPING Ship Management is responsible for production organization, while Qidong COSCO SHIPPING Offshore is responsible for later project commissioning. Through resource sharing, technological commonality, and personnel co-management, the project fully leveraged the advantages of Nantong COSCO SHIPPING Ship Management in repair and modification, and the technical capabilities of Qidong COSCO SHIPPING Offshore in new energy project construction, providing strong support for project advancement.

To ensure the successful commissioning of the generator, the project team actively promoted the integrity of each subsystem. The project construction team proactively organized pre-commissioning inspections and cleaning of relevant compartments, fuel filling, purging of starting air pipelines, MC package line checks, pump pressure and fuel system pipeline oil flushing verification, cold state generator turning gear measurement, oil pan cleaning and refueling, etc., to meet the operating conditions for oil, water, electricity, and gas. The electromechanical workshop organized a lean commissioning management team, assigning professional commissioning personnel to track each system. They actively verified the various statuses of the generator commissioning with the ship owner and service providers, repeatedly communicating and confirming various system commissioning documents one by one, checking the integrity of system pipelines and accessories, the completeness of generator accessories installation, and conducting safety point inspections of the generator two weeks in advance, cooperating with the project team to solve problems in various disciplines.

Through systematic collaboration, the project team implemented each item on the work project list, making every effort to seize the project schedule. The project team promptly organized personnel from process, technology, commissioning, and production support, providing rapid feedback and implementation. After multiple tests, the supply of oil, water, electricity, and gas was normal, ensuring the successful completion of the generator commissioning milestone and laying a solid foundation for the commissioning of the entire ship's systems. Before the auxiliary engine commissioning, the load test of the switchboard and the commissioning of the system's static alarm points were completed efficiently in advance, receiving unanimous praise from the ship owner.

Due to the thorough preparation of various inspections and commissioning work in the early stage, the generator commissioning test was successfully completed as planned, achieving the set goals. It is understood that the project team has successively carried out the commissioning and load tests of the other two generators and the coordinated parallel operation of the three generators.

The successful commissioning of the "Zhicheng" is another victory achieved through the concerted efforts and overcoming of difficulties by the various production systems of Nantong COSCO SHIPPING Ship Management and Qidong COSCO SHIPPING Offshore, laying a solid foundation for the commissioning of the entire ship's systems. According to the overall project arrangement, the project team will next closely follow the various node targets, and strive to promote the integrity checks and commissioning work of the main engine commissioning related systems. With system integrity as a prerequisite, the team will continue to promote the commissioning and inspection of 323 subsystems on the entire ship, ensuring that the project proceeds in an orderly manner according to the established plan.
