Wuchang Shipbuilding commenced construction of the 3rd 1100TEU container ship for CA Shipping

One month after the keel laying of the second 1100TEU container ship on February 14, at 11:18 AM on March 14, the third 1100TEU container ship (AA009M) built by CSSC Wuhan Shipbuilding for CA Shipping was successfully launched at the Shuangliu shipyard of Wuhan Shipbuilding.

Representatives from the ship owner, the Colombian ship management company, and the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK), as well as representatives from relevant departments of the company and the three chief engineers of the product, attended the launching ceremony.

CA SHIPPING is a joint venture established by CSSC Leasing and Asia Ocean Shipping. The 1100TEU series container ship project is the first in-depth cooperation between Wuhan Shipbuilding and CSSC Leasing and Asia Ocean Shipping. A total of four ships of this series are of the same type and are all designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute. The series has an overall length of 147.90 meters, a molded breadth of 23.25 meters, a molded depth of 11.50 meters, a design draft of 7.30 meters, a design deadweight of 9950 tons, a design speed of 18.5 knots, and is suitable for the sea transportation of dry and refrigerated containers.

In order to build this series of container ships into the company's benchmark green ships for mass production, Wuhan Shipbuilding has changed its thinking and carried out innovative research, taking the general assembly as the center and the integration of hull, outfitting, and painting as the goal. A series of research and optimization designs have been carried out from aspects such as three-dimensional comprehensive layout, process advancement, and process optimization. Based on DAP and WSD, network baselines for each stage have been established, and the accuracy of the cargo hold area has been controlled as a whole, ultimately forming an integrated design of hull, outfitting, and painting with the hull as the foundation, outfitting as the center, and painting as the focus.

Currently, this design has been applied to the construction of the first and second 1100TEU container ships. In order to further advance the process, Wuhan Shipbuilding is actively planning and implementing the structuralization of outfitting welding parts and the segment sand-blasting process, which has obvious advantages in improving manufacturing efficiency and construction quality.

In the subsequent construction process, Wuhan Shipbuilding will continue to aim at creating a "benchmark product," fully drawing on the experience of building the first two ships, and continuously optimizing and improving in terms of production design, construction technology, and material preparation. It will strictly control plan management and construction management, coordinate internal and external advantageous resources, and meticulously carry out various tasks to ensure that the ships are built on schedule and with quality, ensuring that high-quality ships are delivered to the ship owner on time.
