On February 28, the 190,000-ton dual-fuel bulk carrier "Ubuntu Unity" built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, for CLOUDS MARINE S.A., was successfully delivered and signed over. Konstantinos Monokrousos, representing the ship owner; Huang Yan, lawyer from Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation; Zheng Minsheng, deputy general manager of the Ship and Ocean Business Department of China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd.; and Li Hui, deputy director of the Marketing Department of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents on behalf of their respective parties. Jin Yu, deputy general manager of the company, and Ilias Tsonos, regional operations support manager of DNV in South China, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. This vessel is also the third vessel delivered by the company in 2023.

It is understood that this vessel is Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's first 190,000-deadweight-ton liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel powered Cape-size bulk carrier. This type of vessel is a major product launched by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in the field of new energy vessels—a new generation of LNG dual-fuel powered bulk carriers. It has an overall length of 299.80 meters, a width of 47.5 meters, a depth of 24.70 meters, a design draft of 18.25 meters, and a design speed of 14 knots. The vessel uses LNG fuel, with two Type C LNG fuel tanks, and a gas-powered range of 20,000 nautical miles. It features advanced technology and is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

The "Ubuntu Unity" (H1544) started sea trials during the Spring Festival period. Various departments proactively worked overtime to ensure uninterrupted production and delivery during the holiday. During the sea trials, the project team planned scientifically, integrating LNG gas testing projects with conventional sea trial projects to ensure that all inspection items were successfully passed, and all technical indicators were excellent.
