After a four-year hiatus, Greek shipowner Goldenport Shipmanagement has once again returned to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) to order two Ultramax bulk carriers.

According to TradeWinds, Goldenport has ordered two 63,800 DWT Ultramax bulk carriers from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou), with new ships scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020.

The specific price for these two Goldenport bulk carriers has not been disclosed. However, data from VesselsValue shows that the new ship price for Ultramax bulk carriers built by Chinese shipyards is currently stable at around $27 million.

This is not the first time Goldenport has ordered ships from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou). In 2014, Goldenport previously ordered five handy-size bulk carriers from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou). These five new ships were delivered in 2017 and are currently still operating in Goldenport's fleet.

John Dragnis, CEO of Goldenport, confirmed the order and stated that Goldenport is satisfied with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou)'s past performance and ship quality, thus deciding to continue ordering new vessels from this shipyard. Goldenport's current fleet includes one Post-Panamax bulk carrier, five Supramax bulk carriers, and six handy-size bulk carriers.

Clarkson's data shows that COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) has a total of 8 Ultramax bulk carriers in its orderbook. Besides Goldenport's 2 vessels, there are also 3 vessels each being built for Tomini Shipping and Union Maritime, which are scheduled for delivery from 2019 to 2020. Currently, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou)'s total orderbook stands at 26 vessels, amounting to 3.15 million DWT.
