On January 3, Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. and Fuhai Maritime Co., Ltd. held an official signing ceremony for two 84,000 cubic meter very large gas carriers (VLGCs).

Representatives from Fuhai Maritime, Fudi Petroleum Holdings Co., Ltd., China Gas Holdings Co., Ltd., Huaguang Maritime Holdings Co., Ltd. (the ship owner's project supervisor), China Shipbuilding (Hong Kong) Shipping Leasing Co., Ltd., and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) attended the signing ceremony.

This type of vessel is the second-generation VLGC (Panda 84P) independently designed by Jiangnan Shipyard. It has an overall length of 230.0 meters, a molded breadth of 36.6 meters, a molded depth of 22.2 meters, a design draft of 11.4 meters, a structural draft of 12.0 meters, and a cargo capacity of 84,000 cubic meters. It is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV), flies the Hong Kong flag, and will meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III emission requirements and the new IGC Code standard.

In recent years, Jiangnan Shipyard has independently designed and built many VLGCs. It has already delivered 11 83,000 cubic meter VLGCs, with 3 84,000 cubic meter VLGCs nearing delivery, and another 4 84,000 cubic meter VLGCs under construction. A representative from Jiangnan Shipyard stated that the company will do its utmost to build advanced and high-performance VLGCs for Fuhai Maritime; at the same time, Jiangnan Shipyard hopes to continue cooperating with Fudi Petroleum, China Gas, and Huaguang to create a new future.

It is understood that Fuhai Maritime Co., Ltd. was established in Hong Kong as a joint venture between Fudi Petroleum Co., Ltd. and China Gas Holdings Co., Ltd. Its main business includes the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and other liquid cargo vessels, as well as ship management. Fudi Petroleum is the core shareholder of Fuhai Maritime and will issue a payment guarantee for this project.

At the ceremony, China Shipbuilding (Hong Kong) Shipping Leasing Co., Ltd. and Fuhai Maritime Co., Ltd. signed a letter of intent for financing cooperation. It is understood that the time from the initial contact between the three parties to the negotiation and signing was remarkably short, setting a new record for Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd.'s VLGC construction projects.
