On September 30, a naming and delivery ceremony was held for the "Tianhongzuo," the first 65,000-ton crude oil tanker built for Shanghai COSCO Shipping Oil Transportation by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) and its subsidiary, Shandong Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SSIC). The ceremony was attended by Sun Bo, General Manager of CSIC; Ding Nong, Vice General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Group; Liu Hanbo, Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING; Zhu Maijin, General Manager of Shanghai COSCO Shipping Oil Transportation; Yu Fengping, General Manager of DSIC; Wang Changzhou, General Manager of SSIC; and Sun Feng, Vice President of CCS.
The "Tianhongzuo" measures 220 meters in length, 32.26 meters in breadth, and 20.6 meters in depth, with a total deadweight of 64,985 tons. This vessel represents the first crude oil tanker built by DSIC following its integration of SSIC, and also the first newly built vessel delivered to COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., Ltd., following the restructuring of COSCO SHIPPING Group's energy sector. The significance of these two 'firsts' led to high levels of attention from leadership and clients on both the owner and shipyard sides.
This project marks the first collaboration between DSIC's SSIC and COSCO SHIPPING Energy, holding significant importance for SSIC's transformation and upgrading. SSIC meticulously organized, strictly managed, and precisely constructed the "Tianhongzuo," completing its construction and delivery to high standards, high quality, and high efficiency, laying the foundation for further cooperation between the two parties.
Following the ceremony and a ship tour, Sun Bo and Ding Nong spoke highly of the vessel's construction quality and perfection. They expressed hope that DSIC and SSIC will continue to strive for greater breakthroughs in shipbuilding, and that the two groups will further strengthen communication and cooperation, expanding their collaboration into broader areas and jointly contributing to the goal of building a strong maritime nation.
