Due to the warming of the shipping market and the rise in ship prices, Jiangsu New Century Shipbuilding has resumed shipbuilding after a period of closure. 6  Months later, it has recently resumed shipbuilding.

Tradewinds reported that the shipyard previously “ had no ships to build ” . Currently, the shipyard has received new ship orders and is building for shipowners in South Korea and Cyprus ultramax type and ultra-handysize vessels.

Tradewinds reported that New Century Shipbuilding 2008  has not signed any new ship orders since the year, and therefore ceased production at the beginning of this year. It is understood that New Century Shipbuilding once stated that it would not accept “ loss-making ” orders, because in the case of overcapacity and overcapacity in the new shipbuilding market, the price of new ships has fallen below the break-even point, so the shipyard resolutely refuses to make loss-making deals.

New Century Shipbuilding no longer signs new ship orders, in order to reduce the group's operating expenses, all production activities will be arranged to the group's subsidiary, New Era Shipbuilding, which was established in 2006  year, with advanced equipment and a larger scale.

New Century Shipbuilding stated that the company withdrew during the market downturn because the shipyard accumulated a batch of high-quality ship orders during the prosperous period of the shipping market.

Because these are high-priced ship orders, we are not in a hurry to accept orders to fill the berth schedule. As a privately-owned shipyard, we can choose whether to start shipbuilding.

In 3  month this year, New Century Shipbuilding returned to the new shipbuilding market and received from CIMC Group 4  vessels 9200 TEU container ship orders, scheduled for 2014 and 2015  year delivery.

In the past 6  months, New Century Shipbuilding has been on track and has received 40  new ship orders (including optional orders and letters of intent). These include Frontline 2012 ordered 4  Cape-size bulk carriers, Jo Tankers 4 stainless steel chemical tankers, CIMC Group 11  container ships, FrontMarine 4 ultra-handysize bulk carriers and Sammok Shipping 2 vessels ultramax bulk carrier orders. This series of orders are built in New Century and New Era respectively, with large vessels built by New Era Shipbuilding.
