CIMC Raffles has signed a 1+1 optional contract for the construction of a semi-submersible drilling platform with Landmark Holdings, registered in the British Virgin Islands.

It is understood that Landmark Holdings and other investors have created a special purpose company, and the agreement was issued by this special purpose company. According to the preliminary agreement, the delivery period of the drilling platform is 34 months from the effective date of the contract. This platform is an upgraded version of the GM-4000 semi-submersible drilling platform previously built by CIMC Raffles for CNOOC Ltd., and will adopt Global Maritime's GM-4D design, suitable for operations in global regions including the North Sea and the Arctic.

The GM-4D semi-submersible drilling platform has a maximum operating water depth of 1200 meters and a maximum drilling depth of 8000 meters. It can operate in environments as low as -25 degrees Celsius and meets ice-class requirements.
