Chengdong Shipbuilding Marine has received orders for 6 MR vessels

Danish shipowner Maersk Tankers announced on the 1st that it recently ordered four MR product carriers (PC) with an option for two more from Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2016. While the price was not disclosed, industry estimates put it at close to $35 million per vessel. Maersk Tankers CEO Hanne B. Sorensen stated that to meet market demands, the goal is to accelerate the integration of the PC fleet, and this order is the first phase of that integration project.

It was also stated that within Maersk Tankers' fleet, the MR fleet has the highest average age, therefore it was selected as the first vessel type for newbuilding orders.
