Ulstein of Norway has signed a contract with China's Guangdong CIMC Raffles Shipyard for the design, power/control systems supply, and subsequent on-site services for two platform supply vessels (PSVs). These two PSVs are repeat orders from the Norwegian shipowner Vroon Offshore Services at Guangdong CIMC Raffles Shipyard, built based on Ulstein's "PX121" design, scheduled for delivery in 2015, and will operate in European waters.
The PX121 PSV has a length and breadth of 83.4 meters and 18 meters respectively, is a 4200DWT class, improves cargo loading capacity and fuel efficiency, has a speed of 15 knots, can accommodate approximately 23 people, and meets the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) "Clean Design" requirements.
In addition, at the beginning of the year, Vroon ordered two + two optional PSVs from Guangdong CIMC Raffles Shipyard, each costing approximately US\$27 million, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2015. The design Ulstein is supplying this time is for the optional order; the company has also signed a contract to supply the PX121 design for two confirmed PSVs.
