On August 24, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) received an order for one self-elevating drilling platform from KS Drilling, a subsidiary of KS Energy in Singapore.

This self-elevating drilling platform, a Friede & Goldman designed “Super M2” type, has an operating water depth of 300 feet and a maximum drilling depth of 30,000 feet. The construction price is US$165.5 million, with an expected delivery in 2014.

In addition, KS Energy recently announced the establishment of a new joint venture, jointly owned and operated by KS Energy and PT Pertamina of Indonesia for drilling platforms in Indonesia.

Indonesia is working to increase its oil and gas production and is expected to require more self-elevating drilling platforms in the coming years to meet its drilling operations.
