On August 8, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. According to news from CSSC's website, Hu Wenming, Chairman and Party Secretary of CSSC, and Liu Qitao, Chairman, President, and Party Secretary of CCCC, jointly attended the signing ceremony and expressed their intention to further strengthen deeper cooperation to contribute to the development of the marine economy and the construction of a strong maritime nation.
Before the signing ceremony, Hu Wenming and Liu Qitao held a meeting. Hu Wenming stated that the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the grand goal of developing the marine economy and building a strong maritime nation. The 'Implementation Plan for Accelerating Structural Adjustment and Promoting Transformation and Upgrading in the Shipbuilding Industry (2013-2015)' recently issued by the State Council further proposed that the shipbuilding industry should focus on accelerating the transformation of its development model, centering on improving development quality and efficiency, innovating systems and mechanisms, striving to change product structure, enhance technical structure, optimize organizational structure, adjust layout structure, resolve contradictions of overcapacity, improve the industry's core competitiveness, and strive to achieve the transformation of the shipbuilding industry from large to strong. In accordance with the requirements of the Party and the state, CSSC adheres to the principle of prioritizing military products and unswervingly integrating military and civilian industries, accelerating the transformation of its development model and adjusting its business structure, transforming from a 'single dominant industry' to moderately related diversification, and from manufacturing to integrated financial and industrial coordinated development, fully building six major industrial segments: shipbuilding and repair, marine engineering, power equipment, electromechanical equipment, information and control, and productive modern service industries, striving to build an integrated financial and industrial innovative enterprise group. Both CSSC and CCCC are large central state-owned enterprises, each having their respective advantages in marine transportation, marine engineering equipment, and port machinery. They have also had extensive cooperation in the past, and it is hoped that in the future, both parties will further strengthen cooperation on the existing basis, complement each other's strengths, deepen friendship through cooperation, enhance friendship through business development, and achieve common development.
Liu Qitao stated that China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) ranked 216th among the Fortune Global 500 in 2012, possessing strong investment and financing, design, construction, and manufacturing capabilities in areas such as port and waterway engineering, bridges, expressways, port machinery, and marine engineering equipment. In recent years, CCCC and subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) have carried out a large number of fruitful collaborations in fields such as the design and construction of deepwater semi-submersible drilling platforms and dredgers, and the construction of dry docks and berths. It is hoped that in the future, both parties will elevate the breadth and depth of their cooperation to a higher level, and engage in even closer collaboration in the field of marine engineering.
