The construction contract for a 28000CBM LNG carrier, recently signed by Dalian Cosco Shipyard, Dalian Yintai Group, and Shanghai Jiahao Ship Design Company, has officially come into effect. This LNG carrier is expected to be completed and delivered in 2015. Upon commissioning, it will be used for secondary transportation between large-scale LNG receiving terminals and LNG satellite stations, improving the efficiency and safety of short-haul LNG transportation.
This LNG carrier construction contract marks Dalian Cosco Shipyard's first domestic contract for a small, green, new energy LNG vessel. This LNG carrier uses dual-fuel propulsion and is the first green new energy standard vessel in China. This new order further enriches Dalian Cosco Shipyard's new shipbuilding business product types, further enhancing the company's market share in the domestic high-tech shipbuilding field, while filling the gap in China's market for small and medium-sized LNG carriers.
The Yintai-type 28,000 cubic meter LNG carrier integrates the world's most advanced technology for LNG carriers, using a C-type cargo tank and a dual-fuel main engine propulsion system. The cargo handling system uses internationally advanced technology to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient cargo transportation. It is currently one of the world's largest C-type LNG carrier tanks and can meet the cargo loading requirements of various LNG types.
The new LNG vessel's power system uses a dual-fuel main engine drive with an adjustable pitch propeller system. Using diesel and LNG boil-off gas as dual fuel effectively utilizes boil-off gas during cargo transportation, reducing energy loss, minimizing pollution or damage to the marine, land, and atmospheric environments, improving ship energy efficiency, achieving green environmental protection goals, and significantly reducing energy consumption under the same business efficiency. It fully meets the CCS GreenShipII class standard, serving as a good demonstration for China's vigorous promotion of the widespread use of LNG clean energy in the transportation sector.
