ABB wins order for energy management systems on five multi-purpose vessels

Zurich, Switzerland, June 11 news: ABB, a leading global power and automation technology group, recently received an order from Germany's Rickmers Group to provide a dynamic trim optimization consulting system and fleet management solution for five multipurpose vessels. Dynamic trim optimization means that a vessel can achieve optimal trim while ballasting or loading, thereby consuming the least amount of propulsion power.

The operator of these vessels, Rickmers-Linie, is a leading global intercontinental carrier for general cargo, heavy lift, and project cargo vessels, and is a member of the Hamburg-based Rickmers Group.

The system delivered by ABB will help the ship management team operate vessels in the most efficient way, maximizing fuel savings. The system installation for the first vessel is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of this year, and the systems for all five vessels are expected to be fully installed and operational by the end of this year.
