On July 31, the "Hailong Xingye" project, undertaken by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong for upgrade and modification, was officially completed and delivered, and a completion and delivery ceremony was held.
Relevant leaders and guests from CGN Engineering Co., Ltd., Guangdong Jingyin Ocean Engineering Co., Ltd., China Classification Society Guangzhou Branch, and CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. attended the ceremony. Representatives from the four parties cut the ribbon for the completion and delivery ceremony of the Hailong Xingye upgrade and modification project.
"Hailong Xingye" is China's first truss-leg wind power installation platform delivered by Huangpu Wenchong to Jingyin Marine Engineering in 2019. It is a 1200-ton self-elevating wind power installation platform with an overall length of 94.5 meters, an upper hull width of 43.3 meters, a molded depth of 7.6 meters, a design draft of 4.7 meters, pile legs 91.5 meters long, and a maximum operating water depth of 60 meters. It comes with a DP1 dynamic positioning system (which can be used for installation and O&M of offshore wind turbines of 8 MW and below) and a 4-point mooring dual positioning system. The platform is classified by CCS and has the GPR (Green Passport) additional class notation.
For this upgrade and modification, "Hailong Xingye" entered the factory at the end of December 2022, officially started construction in January 2023, and completed the modification project in July 2023, achieving "five firsts" and filling a gap in the upgrade and modification of self-elevating wind power installation platforms.
Five Firsts
1. First time in China for truss leg modification and extension;
2. First time in China for spudcan strengthening modification;
3. First time for the company to undertake the modification of this type of self-elevating wind power installation platform;
4. First time for the company to successfully overcome the technical challenge of one-time successful welding of special structures for spudcan modification;
5. First time for the company to achieve joint upgrade and modification projects by two major business units in two areas of one plant.
During the repair of "Hailong Xingye", various engineering departments and operation areas cooperated closely, actively communicated and coordinated, minimizing the cross-impacts of various trades. Facing the challenge of spudcan strengthening modification in the dry dock, the project team overcame multiple difficulties such as small internal space of the spudcan, complex structure, difficulty in handling old structures, high difficulty in constructing ultra-high strength steel, many types of welding consumables involved, and numerous flaw detection points, completing the spudcan strengthening modification and mooring system modification in the dry dock with assured quality and quantity.
The successful completion of the "Hailong Xingye" upgrade and modification project fills a gap in the company's capabilities for self-elevating wind power installation platform upgrades and modifications, and holds significant and positive meaning for the ship repair business unit in expanding the market for high-tech, high-value-added marine engineering product modification and repair.
