In late February 2023, the 300-foot jack-up rig "PERRO NEGRO 12" (hereinafter referred to as PN12), operated by CIMC Offshore Assets Operations and Management Co., Ltd. Ocean Challenger, held its naming and departure ceremony at CIMC Raffles Shipyard in Yantai. Representatives from Saipem's project team, ABS Classification Society, CIMC Raffles' project team, and CIMC Offshore Assets team attended the ceremony. Saipem Project Manager Ms. Chiara Perotti named the rig.

PN12 adopts the FNG SUPER M2 vessel type, with an operating water depth of 300 feet and a drilling depth of 30,000 feet, making it the culmination of CIMC BayDrill series 300-foot drilling rigs. In early March, the rig departed for the Middle East to complete preparatory work and will subsequently begin performing drilling and workover operations for Saudi Aramco.

Following the successful departure of "PERRO NEGRO 11" (hereinafter referred to as PN11) in July 2022, CIMC Offshore Assets and Saipem have once again joined forces, overcoming various challenges of remote communication and time differences, successfully achieving another masterpiece of cooperation, writing a new milestone for the strategic partnership between CIMC and Saipem.

It is understood that Saipem is an Italian oil and gas industry contractor. Saipem utilizes advanced technology and engineering platforms to design, build, and operate safe, sustainable complex infrastructure and plants. Simultaneously, it has consistently worked with clients, guided by technological innovation and aiming for environmental sustainability, using digital tools, technologies, and processes, and actively participating at the forefront of the energy transition.

Ocean Challenger is an offshore asset operation and management company under CIMC Group, with permanent offices established in China, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Norway. Since its establishment, relying on CIMC Group's international platform and adhering to the philosophy of providing customized delivery solutions to fully meet customer delivery needs, the company has successfully delivered, disposed of, and operated over twenty offshore assets.

The cooperation between CIMC and Saipem has a long history, with both parties having jointly built Scarabeo 9, Castorone, Perro Negro 11, and now Perro Negro 12. A relevant person from CIMC stated that the offshore oil and gas industry is currently in a period of significant strategic opportunities for major development, with vast future growth potential. CIMC and Saipem will use the PERRO NEGRO 12 rig as a new opportunity for their cooperation, further deepening mutual collaboration, promoting the superposition of their respective advantages, seizing future new opportunities, and jointly achieving high-quality development.
