On July 23, China Shipbuilding's CSSC Trading and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry successfully won an order for 2+2 210,000-ton bulk carriers from a well-known European shipowner. The contract was signed by both parties via a "cloud signing" ceremony.
The vessels in this contract utilize a new generation 210,000-ton bulk carrier design. The ships have an overall length of 300 meters, a breadth of 50 meters, a depth of 25.2 meters, a design draft of 16.1 meters, a structural draft of 18.55 meters, a speed of 14.55 knots, and a range of 27,000 nautical miles. They meet the International Maritime Organization's TIER III emission standards and feature large cargo holds, low air draft, economic and environmental friendliness, and intelligent features and advantages.
During the project negotiations, CSSC Trading and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry worked continuously, actively communicating with the shipowner on commercial and technical issues via video conferencing, email, and telephone. Their persistent efforts led to a successful partnership and the efficient completion of the contract signing.
This contract marks the shipowner's first order with Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and their renewed collaboration with a China Shipbuilding Group subsidiary after a 12-year hiatus. The successful signing of this project adds new momentum to the deepening cooperation between China Shipbuilding Group and this shipowner, and will further enhance and consolidate China Shipbuilding Group's market share and leading position in the Newcastlemax bulk carrier sector.
