On March 24, Hudong-Zhonghua held the steel cutting ceremony for the third vessel of the COSCO SHIPPING-PetroChina International LNG transportation project. Zheng Jun, Deputy General Manager of PetroChina International, Qin Jiong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy and Chairman of Shanghai LNG, Huang Yiping, Executive Deputy General Manager of Hudong Shipyard, and other leaders and guests attended the ceremony. Chen Wei, Assistant General Manager (seconded) of COSCO SHIPPING Energy, Cong Jian, Managing Director of Shanghai LNG, Zheng Zurong, Executive Deputy General Manager, Ji Mingsi, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Petroleum, and other guests also attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Zheng Jun, representing both the charterer and the shipowner, pressed the button to start the cutting of the first steel plate for the project's third vessel, marking the full commencement of construction for all three sister ships of the first LNG transportation project with a purely Chinese operation, management, and construction background. This signifies a solid step taken by the three major central enterprises in achieving strong alliances and promoting integrated development of the industrial chain.

This vessel is the third (H1833A) of the three 174,000 CBM large LNG carriers in the PetroChina International project. It adopts the world's latest generation dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system. Building upon the delivered vessels of the same series, its performance is further optimized, and energy consumption is further reduced. This vessel type is equipped with advanced environmental protection devices, capable of meeting the International Maritime Organization's strictest emission standards whether operating in gas or fuel oil mode, fully embodying the company's consistent advocacy for green, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly concepts.

Currently, the PetroChina International project has fully entered the construction phase, with on-site construction in full swing. The Shanghai LNG technical team has worked hard to overcome the impact of the pandemic, leading the implementation of vessel supervision for this project. Currently, the first vessel of the project is about to enter dry dock, construction of various sections for the second vessel has successively started, and the third vessel's steel plates have been successfully cut. Based on the construction experience of the first two vessels, all parties will promote upgraded and optimized construction and supervision processes for the third vessel to ensure high-quality delivery.

The PetroChina International project is a model project jointly built by three major central enterprises: COSCO SHIPPING Energy, PetroChina, and Hudong Shipyard. By establishing an energy industry chain development model of 'mutual integration, interconnectedness, coexistence, and win-win' among major shipowners, major cargo owners, and major shipyards, central enterprises fully demonstrate their leading role as the main force of state-owned enterprises, laying a solid foundation for seizing development opportunities in building a new 'dual circulation' development paradigm and implementing the '14th Five-Year' Development Plan.

As the first LNG transportation project with a Chinese operation, management, and construction background, the PetroChina International project embodies the firm confidence of COSCO SHIPPING Energy, PetroChina International, and Hudong Shipyard in the integrated development of the LNG industrial chain. During the construction of the project's series vessels, all parties promptly formulated epidemic prevention and control plans, refined epidemic prevention regulations such as on-site inspection and acceptance, factory inspection, and unboxing acceptance, institutionalizing and normalizing epidemic prevention work. They have worked hard to overcome the impact of the pandemic, advanced shipbuilding progress according to schedule, and made every effort to ensure the high-quality and timely delivery of the project's new vessels.

COSCO SHIPPING Energy, as a leader in China's LNG transportation business and a significant participant in the global LNG transportation market, has currently invested in a total of 41 LNG vessels, with a total cargo capacity of 6.9436 million cubic meters.
