Keppel Offshore & Marine, a Singaporean jack-up rig builder, recently delivered the fourth jack-up rig, "Hermod," to Norwegian drilling company Borr Drilling.

"Hermod," built by Keppel FELS, utilizes Keppel's proprietary KFELS B design. It was delivered to Borr Drilling safely and on time, within budget. This is the fourth of eleven jack-up rigs Keppel Offshore & Marine is building for Borr Drilling.

Tan Leong Peng, Executive Director, Newbuilds, Keppel Offshore & Marine, said: "We are pleased to deliver the fourth high-specification jack-up rig to Borr Drilling, and this is also the 70th KFELS B-class rig to enter the market. Operators and oil companies have shown a preference for the high-specification KFELS B-class rig for its durability, reliability, versatility and efficiency."

"The on-time, within-budget, and safe delivery of 'Hermod' reflects Keppel Offshore & Marine's unwavering commitment to providing value-added solutions for our clients. We have seven more jack-up rigs on order from Borr Drilling, and we look forward to furthering our partnership with them."

Svend Anton Maier, CEO of Borr Drilling, said: "We are very pleased to add another high-quality jack-up rig to our fleet from Keppel Offshore & Marine. Our clients can rest assured that these rigs have a proven track record of delivering superior performance wherever they are deployed. Global utilization of jack-up rigs has been on an upward trend, driven by increased utilization of modern rigs such as the KFELS B-class. Demand for jack-up rigs continues to increase, with various tendering projects around the world. We look forward to the subsequent deliveries of jack-up rigs, which will further enable us to capitalize on these market opportunities."

Since last year, Keppel Offshore & Marine has successively delivered the first three jack-up rigs to Borr Drilling – "Saga," "Skald," and "Thor." These rigs are all based on the KFELS Super B design, with an operating water depth of up to 400 feet and a maximum drilling depth of up to 35,000 feet.

The KFELS B design, developed by Keppel Offshore & Marine's technology arm, accounts for approximately one-quarter of the global market share of all jack-up rigs delivered since 2000. This innovative and cost-effective rig boasts industry-leading safety and environmental features, and has performed well in major offshore exploration and development operations around the world.
