On October 19, CIMC Raffles Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. and the Yantai Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport signed a contract for the construction of a pile-driving salvage and rescue engineering vessel in Yantai, Shandong Province. This marks the official launch of the project, representing a new breakthrough in the long-term cooperation between the two parties and another collaborative effort by "Yantai's strength" in developing a strong maritime city.

The Yantai Salvage Bureau is one of China's three major professional salvage units and ranks among the largest and most advanced maritime rescue and marine engineering companies in Asia. It owns 40 vessels of various types, including ocean-going tugboats, offshore supply vessels, large cranes, and large deck vessels. It is responsible for non-life-threatening rescue operations, salvage of sunken ships and objects, and distressed aircraft in the northern waters and port channels of China, as well as oil spill cleanup at sea.

Both CIMC Raffles and the Yantai Salvage Bureau are professional marine enterprises in Yantai, having engaged in friendly cooperation since their establishment. The Yantai Salvage Bureau provides high-quality services to CIMC Raffles for section launching, equipment hoisting, relocation operations, and platform towing, witnessing CIMC Raffles' growth from a local shipyard to today's international marine engineering enterprise, entering the first echelon of global deepwater platform design and construction. In August this year, the Yantai Salvage Bureau announced the bidding results, with CIMC Raffles winning the bid for the construction of a pile-driving salvage and rescue engineering vessel with a bid of 615.46 million yuan.
According to the introduction, this vessel will primarily be used for emergency clearance and salvage operations in coastal and nearshore shallow waters. It has lifting, transportation, storage, and supply functions to support salvage operations. It can be used for equipment hoisting at the salvage site, the salvage of small sunken vessels, assisting in the salvage of large sunken vessels, unloading cargo and fuel from sunken vessels, supporting the daily life of on-site personnel, and transporting and installing wind turbines for offshore wind farms, as well as platform maintenance and life support. After delivery, the vessel will further strengthen China's northern sea area's maritime emergency salvage capabilities, effectively responding to emergency salvage incidents under harsh sea conditions, and improving salvage efficiency.

As a leading marine engineering enterprise, CIMC Raffles has delivered more than 70 sets of marine engineering equipment of various types to date. This signed project will be constructed at its Longkou construction base, which has abundant resources and experience in the construction of self-elevating platforms and high-end marine fishing equipment, and has established a professional and specialized safety and quality management mechanism.

"We will adhere to the HSE concept of safe, healthy, and green operations, and use our ability to build 'national treasures' to build this salvage and rescue engineering vessel, providing support for the Yantai Salvage Bureau, ensuring the safety of maritime life, environment, and property, jointly supporting Yantai's construction of a strong maritime city, and safeguarding a strong maritime province and a strong maritime country." said Li Minggao, Vice President of CIMC Raffles.
