On February 13, CIMC Raffles signed a contract with Norway's Nordlaks for the construction of the Nordlaks Havfarm 1 deep-water aquaculture vessel.
The Nordlaks Havfarm 1 deep-water aquaculture vessel was jointly developed and designed by Nordlaks and NSK Ship Design. It meets the strictest global NORSOK (Norwegian Petroleum Standardization Organization) standards, is classed by DNV GL, and can operate in Norway's harsh sea conditions. The vessel is 385 meters long, 59 meters wide, and 65 meters high, containing six deep-water cages with a total water volume of 440,000 cubic meters. Based on the Norwegian standard of 25 kg/cubic meter, the farming scale can reach 10,000 tons of salmon.
The vessel is secured using a single-point mooring system with an external turret. It is also equipped with the world's most advanced automated salmon farming system, capable of automated fish fry transportation, automatic feed dispensing, underwater light monitoring and underwater oxygenation, dead fish recovery, and automatic adult fish harvesting. Automation and intelligence are ubiquitous.
As the world's largest and most advanced deep-water aquaculture vessel currently, upon completion it will address issues such as excessive salmon farming density, insufficient farming area, and salmon sea lice in Norway. It will change the direction of the salmon aquaculture industry, sustainably meeting the growing global demand for healthy seafood.

CIMC Raffles Vice President Li Minggao stated, "With the growing global demand for healthy seafood, the sustainable development of aquaculture places higher demands on us. CIMC Raffles' cooperation and learning with Norway began with the COSL series drilling platforms, and now extends to today's deep-water aquaculture vessels. We hope that through this signing, we can together provide the world with reliable, nutritious, and pollution-free salmon, and also open up new avenues for broader cooperation between us."
In fact, in less than a year, CIMC Raffles has developed a strong relationship with Norwegian salmon.
In April 2017, CIMC Raffles signed an agreement with Norway's OceanAquafarms AS involving the construction of five Hex Box farming cages, allowing Norwegian salmon farming to break free from the limitations of fjord areas, with a potential value of up to $250 million.
In September of the same year, CIMC Raffles, OceanAquafarms AS, China Water Affairs Group Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd., and China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding on framework cooperation for deep-water salmon farming in Norway.
The signing of the contract for the construction of the Havfarm 1 deep-water aquaculture vessel signifies a step closer to high-quality Norwegian salmon, and represents another breakthrough for CIMC Raffles in the deep-sea fishing industry.
Guo Fuyuan, general manager of CIMC Ocean Technology Development Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CIMC Raffles, stated: "This signing not only establishes the company's leading position in the international fisheries equipment industry, but also provides valuable reference for the future launch of domestic deep-water cage products, which is of great significance." CIMC Ocean Technology Development Co., Ltd. mainly engages in R&D and design services for marine fishing equipment, marine ranch operation services, marine ranch demonstration zone construction, marine new energy, marine environment monitoring, and marine environmental protection. It has already built and delivered multiple marine ranch platforms and has started construction on China's first bottom-sitting deep-water cage, promoting the transformation and upgrading of China's marine fishing industry and leading China's marine fishing industry from shallow seas to deep seas.
CIMC Raffles is a world-renowned marine engineering EPC general contractor that can provide complete solutions for marine oil and gas. In recent years, CIMC Raffles has actively responded to the national "One Belt, One Road" initiative and the "Maritime Power" strategy, seizing the historical opportunity of the transformation of old and new kinetic energy, bringing together China's marine engineering strength to form an industrial ecosystem. Building on its leading position in marine oil and gas, it is actively deploying in the global "Greater Ocean" industry. In the field of deep-sea fishing, relying on the national "sea granary" strategy, it has built a bridge for Sino-Norwegian cooperation in marine fishing, investing in and introducing advanced Norwegian fishing equipment and technology to create intelligent Chinese marine fishing equipment, driving the sustainable development of China's and the global marine fishing industry.
