On the morning of June 28, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding successfully signed a contract with the American Fu Mao Group for the construction of two 180,000-ton bulk carriers. Zhao Anji, Vice Chairman of Fu Mao Group; China Shipbuilding Hu Kai, Deputy General Manager of Industrial Trade Company; and Tao Ying, Chief Engineer of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, signed the contract on behalf of their respective companies. Wang Qi, Chairman of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding; Li Mingqing, General Manager of Fu Mao Group; and Wu Aijun, Assistant General Manager and Deputy General Manager of Business Department 4 of China Shipbuilding Trade Company, witnessed the signing ceremony.
Before the ceremony, Wang Qi cordially met with Zhao Anji and the signing guests, expressing gratitude for the trust and support of the American Fu Mao Group towards Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. Both sides expressed their intention to use this new ship signing as a new starting point for even more long-term cooperation.
It is reported that the 180,000-ton Capesize bulk carrier signed this time is the eighth-generation energy-saving and environmentally friendly bulk carrier independently developed and designed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. It meets the requirements of the latest effective conventions, rules, and regulations on CSR, PSPC, NOx and SOx emissions, ballast water management, and green shipbuilding materials. It also analyzes the ship's index according to the latest calculation formula of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Its technical indicators have reached the advanced level of similar international ship types, and it has higher operational flexibility than similar products on the market.
The cooperation between Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and the American Fu Mao Group is a model. Since 2002, through information sharing and joint development, the two sides have designed and built more than 10 bulk carriers with a deadweight tonnage of 175,000 to 206,000 tons. This has not only enabled Fu Mao Group to gradually possess a bulk carrier fleet with strong international market competitiveness, but also allowed Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding to create world-renowned brand ship types, attracting many ship owners from Greece and Hong Kong to place orders, making it an absolute protagonist in the global Capesize bulk carrier market.
It is understood that Fu Mao Group's fleet has 18 bulk carriers, 9 of which were built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
