On March 8th, Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Location Comments News Recruitment) held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 22,000-deadweight-ton product tanker "BABYLON," built for Singapore Coast Logistics Transportation. Li Mingxin, Party Secretary of Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry, Rao Honghua, Assistant General Manager, Yang Yongxing, Chairman of Coast Petroleum Holdings, Li Zhaoqin, CEO of Coast Logistics Transportation, Hong Jin, General Manager, Zhang Kongqun, General Manager of the Dalian branch of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Location Contact) (NK), and members of the project team and supervision team attended the ceremony. At the ceremony, Ms. Qiu Xue, the godmother, named the new ship.
The "BABYLON" is 155 meters long, 36 meters wide, 12.5 meters deep, and has a design draft of 5.8 meters. It is a product tanker with refueling capabilities and is currently one of the world's largest refueling vessels (Vessel Type Shipyard Sales). The ship is equipped with twin main engines (Product Library Purchase Supply) and twin propellers (Product Library Purchase Supply). World-leading SPJ full-rotating water jet thrusters (Product Library Purchase Supply) are installed at the bow and stern, allowing it to rotate 180° in 4 minutes from a standstill, and the vessel can continue sailing even if the main engines completely fail. The ship's three MAN7L32/40 main engines and three MAN8L16/24 diesel generators (Product Library Purchase Supply) are all manufactured by Shaanxi Diesel Engine Works (Ship Machinery Library Location), and the vessel is equipped with a ballast water (Product Library Purchase Supply) treatment system, with each oil tank independently circulating.
This vessel is the second of its kind that Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry has built for Coast Logistics Transportation; the first, the "Atalanta," was delivered in early 2015. Given the friendly cooperative relationship between the two parties and the excellent performance of the "Atalanta" in operation, Coast Logistics Transportation signed a contract with Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry for the construction of a second vessel in the second half of 2015.
The successful delivery of the "BABYLON" further enhances Dalian Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry's brand image in the product tanker/refueling vessel construction market.
