December 14, Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. delivered the world's first X-BOW for Van Oord of the Netherlands. Rock-dumping vessel Successfully launched. This is another important production milestone completed by Zhejiang Shipbuilding after its bankruptcy reorganization and reopening.
The vessel, E169, is the world's first of its kind, classed by Bureau Veritas (BV), with basic design by USOS and detailed and production design by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). In September 2014, Jiangsu Pacific Shipbuilding Group signed a new shipbuilding contract with Van Oord of the Netherlands. In April 2015, the construction of the E169 rock-dumping vessel officially commenced at Zhejiang Shipbuilding, originally scheduled for delivery in 2016. The vessel is 154.4 meters long, operates in water depths of 600 meters, expandable to 1000 meters. The design draft load is 12,000 tons. It uses the most advanced rock-dumping technology and a DP3 dynamic positioning system. It has an advanced rock-dumping pipe system and a dedicated ROV for rock-dumping operations. The rock-dumping pipe guides the rocks to the deep seabed, and with the guidance and cooperation of the ROV at the end of the pipe, precise rock-dumping can be achieved. It is understood that the vessel has obtained the CLEAN class notation and the highest level of comfort notations, COMF NOSE 1 and COMF VIB 1. The vessel can be used for pre-dumping operations such as suspended treatment before submarine cable laying, seabed pretreatment before underwater structure installation, and seabed pipeline support. It can also be used for post-dumping operations such as backfilling cables, trench backfilling, preventing submarine pipelines from floating and bending, and ballasting underwater structures. With the development of deep-sea oil and gas, the market prospects for this type of vessel are very broad.
