Chongqing is located in the southwest inland region of China and in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Chongqing's pillar industries such as automobiles, electronic information, and equipment manufacturing have continued to grow and expand, strategic emerging industries have flourished, and the quality and efficiency of economic development have significantly improved. In 2014, the city's total output value increased by 10.9% year-on-year, and it is expected to increase by 11% year-on-year in 2015.
In recent years, Chongqing has accelerated the development of water transport, and the preliminary form of the upper Yangtze River shipping center has emerged. Guoyuan Port is a national-level comprehensive transportation hub integrating rail, road, and water transport. It is the main hub port in Chongqing's planned modern port group and an important carrier for Chongqing's construction of the upper Yangtze River shipping center. It has a designed annual throughput capacity of 30 million tons and currently has 16 berths for 5,000-ton vessels.
Public information shows that the core part of Guoyuan Port is Chongqing Guoyuan Container Terminal Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chongqing Port Nine, a company listed on the A-share market.
