Belgium Bulk carrier ( Ship type Shipyard Sale and purchase ) Recently, Bocimar cancelled an order for four 36,000-dwt handysize bulk carriers at Weihai Sanjin Shipyard ( Location Comments News ) The four new vessels, hull numbers 1052, 1053, 1054 and 1055, were cancelled because the shipyard was unable to deliver the new vessels according to the contractually agreed schedule, according to the parent company Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB).

Clarkson's data shows that the four new vessels were originally scheduled for delivery this year. CMB pointed out that Weihai Sanjin Shipyard has already returned approximately US$30 million in advance; at the same time, Bocimar is closely monitoring the shipyard's situation and does not rule out the possibility of further cancellations in the future.

It is understood that Bocimar placed an order for 6+2 new vessels with Weihai Sanjin Shipyard in 2011. According to Clarkson's data, Bocimar still has 8 environmentally friendly bulk carriers under construction at Weihai Sanjin Shipyard, and these new vessels are expected to be delivered successively in the next two years. Bocimar's cancellation will obviously bring more questions to the financial situation of Weihai Sanjin Shipyard.

Bocimar did not disclose the specific price of these handysize bulk carriers, but it is reported that the new vessels cost approximately US$19 million each. Observers point out that this price is about US$4 million lower than the resale price given by some ship brokers.

According to the results released by CMB recently, the company reported a net loss of US$28 million in the first half of this year. The company stated that "based on the results of the first half of the year and considering the group's required cash flow, the board of directors believes that no internal dividends should be distributed for 2014."
