Bohai Shipbuilding wins order for 5 210,000-ton bulk carriers

It is understood that Singapore Bulk carrier ( Ship type Shipyard Sales and purchase ) Berge Bulk recently at Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry ( Location Comments News placed an order for 5 210,000-dwt bulk carriers. The first two are scheduled for delivery in 2015, and the remaining three in 2016. The price of the new ships has not been disclosed, but market sources say that each ship costs about US$52 million to US$53 million, with a total price of about US$260 million to US$265 million.
At the end of last year, Berge Bulk signed a letter of intent for newbuildings with Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. According to Clarksons data, Berge Bulk currently has 2 more 215,000-dwt ore carriers ( Ship type Shipyard Sales and purchase ) under construction at Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. These two ships were ordered 2 years ago and are named "Taishan" and "Hengshan". Delivery is scheduled for 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Earlier this year, Berge Bulk ordered 4 very large ore carriers (VLOC) in Guangzhou Longxue Shipbuilding ( Location Comments News ) The number of VLOCs ordered by Berge Bulk from Longxue Shipbuilding has now increased to 8. At the time, Berge Bulk said that the 4 ships it ordered were 215,000 dwt, but there are reports that the actual specification is 300,000 dwt.
Longxue Shipbuilding will deliver the first 4 250,000-dwt VLOCs ordered by Berge Bulk between 2015 and 2016, while the 4 VLOCs ordered this year will be delivered between 2016 and 2017. Currently, Berge Bulk's fleet operates more than 40 vessels with a total capacity of approximately 10 million dwt.
