Cosco Shipping announced in a recent announcement that it has ordered two 78000 deadweight tonnage bulk carriers and four 64000 deadweight tonnage bulk carriers, for a total price of 1.61 US dollars, which it plans to raise through internal resources and / or bank loans. The vessels are expected to be 2015 delivered in the second half of the year.
The announcement shows that on 1 month 3 day, Cosco's wholly-owned subsidiary signed two contracts with China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Company and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. to build one 78000 deadweight tonnage bulk carrier each. Yesterday, Cosco's wholly-owned subsidiary signed four contracts with China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Company and CSSC Chengxi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. to build one 64000 deadweight tonnage bulk carrier each. It is expected that these newly built vessels will be delivered in the 2015 second half of the year.
Cosco's directors believe that the current cost of building new ships is relatively low, and the company has sufficient capital resources. Purchasing new energy-saving ships will help optimize the company's fleet structure and expand the carrying capacity of its own dry bulk carrier fleet.
