Recently, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard received an order for four more handysize bulk carriers from Swire Bulk.

According to foreign media reports, Swire Bulk ordered four 39,000 DWT bulk carriers from CSSC Chengxi Shipyard. These vessels, designed by Deltamarin as B.Delta37 handysize bulk carriers, are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2016.

Including this order, Swire Bulk has ordered a total of 16 handysize bulk carriers from CSSC Chengxi Shipyard. The price of this order has not been disclosed, but the price of the four B.Delta37 handysize bulk carriers ordered by Swire Bulk at the end of March this year was US\$23 million per vessel.

In addition, before this order, the first B.Delta37 handysize bulk carrier built by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, "MV Wuchang", completed its sea trial on September 30. The sea trial verified that the performance of the Deltamarin-designed B.Delta37 handysize bulk carrier met the expected design standards and can be considered the most energy-efficient handysize bulk carrier.

It is understood that the Deltamarin-designed 39,500 DWT handysize bulk carrier focuses on improving fuel efficiency. With a service speed of 14 knots, its daily fuel consumption is 18 tons, which is 15.4% lower than the recently effective EEDI index. The vessel has five cargo holds and is used for transporting dry bulk cargo, grain, coal, ore, etc. The vessel is 180 meters long, 30 meters wide, has a draft of 10.50 meters, and a cargo capacity of 48,500 cubic meters.
