Shanchuan Heavy Industry receives order for largest cement carrier

Shanchuan Heavy Industry has received an order for one 20,000 DWT cement carrier from Thai shipowner Precious Shipping.

The vessel is priced at US\$24.48 million, scheduled for delivery on November 30, 2014, and will fly the Singapore flag. It has an overall length of 157 meters, a breadth of 25.5 meters, and a depth of 13 meters. This is the largest tonnage self-discharging cement carrier ever built in China.

Precious Shipping stated that the vessel has secured a long-term charter contract and revealed that the newbuilding funds come from the company's cash reserves, partly supplemented by financing loans.

In addition, Shanchuan Heavy Industry received an order for 2+1 20,000 DWT cement carriers from the same shipowner in December last year, with the optional order officially taking effect this April.

This vessel type is equipped with an advanced self-discharging system, characterized by high technical content and high construction precision.
