QingShan shipyard recently received a firm order for 3 plus an option for up to 9 fuel-efficient bulk carriers from Hamburg Bulk Carriers (HBC). Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014.

These up to 12 vessels of 43,500 DWT are built based on a newly developed design from Deltamarin in Finland. Simulation tests have shown that the daily fuel consumption is only 20 metric tons, making it an environmentally friendly vessel with improved fuel efficiency.

These newbuildings will be equipped with 5 cargo holds and 4 cranes of 35 tons capacity.

TMS Ship Management will be responsible for the technical management of these vessels. The shipowner, HBC, will operate the vessels through its subsidiaries in Hamburg and Singapore.
