On July 11, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and U-Ming Marine Transport (Taiwan) signed a contract for the construction of four 186,000 DWT Capesize bulk carriers, with a total contract value of US$187 million. The new ships will be delivered in sequence starting from 2015.

U-Ming Marine Transport (Taiwan) stated that new shipbuilding prices are currently at a low point. The four 186,000 DWT Capesize bulk carriers ordered this time are priced at US$46.8 million each, a significant decrease compared to US$70-80 million per vessel during booming shipping periods. The new ships will begin delivery in 2015 and all will be delivered by 2016.

In addition, U-Ming Marine Transport previously ordered six Capesize bulk carriers from Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. Among them, two 206,000 DWT bulk carriers will be delivered in October this year and January next year; the remaining four 186,000 DWT bulk carriers will begin delivery from the second half of 2014.
