Yizheng's large shipyards receive stable orders, while some smaller shipyards face an uncertain future.

After a period of widespread deep adjustments in the shipbuilding industry, the shipbuilding market has entered a stage of competition based on the comprehensive strength of shipyards, with new ship orders gradually concentrating on a few shipyards. Statistics show that in the first four months of this year, 18% of the shipyards in Yizheng secured 85% of the orders, indicating an increasingly obvious trend of order concentration among a few shipyards.
Since the beginning of this year, three shipyards in Yizheng Shipbuilding Industrial Park, including Jiangsu Jinling Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (currently 17 shipyards in Yizheng are engaged in shipbuilding activities), have leveraged their competitive advantages in new product development, sales channels, financing, and cost control, seizing the opportunity of rock-bottom new ship prices and ship owners and investors' bottom-fishing in the ship market. They secured orders for 23 energy-efficient and environmentally friendly new bulk carriers and special vessels with a total deadweight tonnage of 633,000 tons and a total value of 1.76 billion yuan. The tonnage and value account for 88.2% and 83.1% of the total new orders received by the entire industry in the first four months of this year, respectively.
Meanwhile, some shipyards in Yizheng have received no new ship orders in the past year, and their production and operation scales have shrunk dramatically. From January to April this year, the electricity consumption of six export sea vessel construction enterprises decreased by more than 40% year-on-year. In April, the operating rate of seven privately owned shipyards was less than 30%, and some small shipyards are facing an uncertain future.
Therefore, under the dual effects of market supply and demand adjustment and government regulation and control, the "Pareto principle" in economics is clearly evident, with shipbuilding resources such as orders, funds, manpower, materials, and equipment flowing in an orderly manner towards advantageous shipyards and competitive shipbuilding products.
